After more than two years of review and discussion within the sector, the sector has a new Training Package with the official teach out date for CHC30113 & CHC50113 scheduled for 20th January 2023.
The first new qualification is CH30121 – Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and it supersedes CHC30113 – Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
The Packaging rules are as follows:
• Total number of units = 17
• 15 core units
• 2 elective units
To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 160 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia.
The second new qualification is CH50121 – Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and it supersedes CHC50113 – Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
The Packaging rules are as follows:
• Total number of units = 15
• 12 core units
• 3 elective units
To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia.
Entry Requirements for CH50121 – Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. This qualification is open to individuals who:
• Hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or
• CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Discussing the Training Package this week, KKTC College Manager Sam Hendry encouraged all ACA NSW members to contact the college to help address any questions they had on what the changes mean for their team of educators.
He said “With only two units crossing over from the ‘old quals’ to the ‘new quals’ there is a lot of new learning and competencies for the sector.”
“With teach out just over a year away there is still time for any current Cert 3 qualified staff to upskill to the current Diploma and get the benefit of the credit transfers. Just call the college on 1300 048 133 to discuss.”
Further enrolment information for the new Training Package will be made available as soon as the college has both new qualifications on scope.
